Luther McNeely had one son, Robert Henry, who was worked for years as a drugstore porter in downtown Statesville.
I am happy to confirm that a later article reported that the bulldog was not rabid. (On a different note: this “boy” was 23 years old when this story ran in the Statesville Landmark on 23 August 1926.)
